War. Uman. An evacuation operation is underway. From under the rubble were extracted on Saturday morning, April 29, 23 bodies of the dead, including 4 children, wounded 18 people, 17 people were rescued. The rescue operation is ongoing.
It was reported today that the search operation has ended. 23 bodies have been found, including 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. One woman is believed to be missing.
God, grant us a just peace. Amen.

The Word… “‘Let the whole house of Israel know with unshakable certainty that this Jesus, whom you crucified, God has made both Lord and Messiah.’ When they heard this, they were seized to the depths of their hearts: What shall we do, brothers?, they asked Peter and the other apostles. ‘Repent,’ said Peter… to them.”
Repent to this God, who is to you the Good Shepherd.

In war, every night and day is tragic. The previous night was one of the more tragic nights of war. Uman, Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Ukrainka are places where once again innocent people were killed. Already 23 victims in Uman. May they rest in eternal peace. (photo)

The Word… Jesus, we have come to you afflicted with life, burdened by war. We ask you to give us the Spirit, to humble us so that we do not run away from the cross.
Give us a humble heart.
“Come to Me, all you who are afflicted and burdened, and I will comfort you. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is sweet, and my burden is light.”

This is Olga and her two-year-old daughter Veronika. They died in the Dnipro River. Their house was destroyed by a Russian attack on the night of April 28. Olga was only 31 years old, her Veronika was two years old. The woman’s parents are in the hospital with more than 40% burns. Dnipro Mayor Boris Filatov said the woman worked as a teacher. As a result of the Russian attack that night, another 20 people were killed in Humana. The number is growing rapidly. (photo)

We live in peace. The war continues, in the East, in the trenches, in the heads, in the hearts, in the families who lost their loved ones…
God, give us a just peace.

This morning, all of Ukraine “red.” Alarms all over the country. In some cities rockets hit their targets, for example, in Uman. A rocket hit a residential house, a high-rise building. In Kyiv, anti-missile systems are working.
God, grant us a just peace.

The Word… “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?” “Who are you, Lord?,” he said. And He: “I am Jesus, whom you persecute. Arise and go into the city, there they will tell you what you should do.” “… I have chosen this man as an instrument. He will carry My name to the Gentiles and to kings and to the children of Israel. And I will show him how much he will have to suffer for my name’s sake.”
Saul is me and you! For God there are no impossible situations, sin, war.

Morning, new day, old alarms in the eastern regions of Ukraine.
Starokostiantyniv greeted us yesterday with aircraft flights, but thank God, our Ukrainian planes doing practice flights.

Tonight S300 missiles hit Nikolayiv, private homes and one residential high-rise building. There are casualties, many injured.
God, grant us a just peace.

The Word… Maybe you read the Word, listen to the Word, but don’t understand, don’t hear. Today’s story from the Acts of the Apostles can give you light. “Do you understand what you are reading?,” he asked.  And the man answered, “‘How can I understand if no one explains to me?’ And he invited Philip to get on and rest by his side.” In order for the Word to bear fruit in you, you must have a community (the Church) that, like this Philip, will give you light, and you will understand the Word as a light on your life!
Come, Holy Spirit !!!

War on the frontline without change. More tension is emerging. There is increasing talk of a counterattack on the front, which may come from the Ukrainian side. We are waiting. We pray for peace, for a just peace.

We greet everyone from Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi region. The days of our Capuchin formation have begun. We live in war, but we do not live by war hence our convention and Capuchin formation.

The Word… Many events in the original, young church. “After the death of Stephen, a great persecution erupted in the Jerusalem Church.” “Saul was destroying the Church, entering homes, kidnapping men and women and throwing them into prison.” “Those who were scattered preached the word on the road.” “For it is My Father’s will that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life. And I will raise him up on the last day.”
There are no unbelievers in war. Hence we believe that those who die on the front lines will be resurrected, will receive eternal life by the power of Jesus’ resurrection.

Heroes do not die! Герої не вмирають!

Good people, one of those good Poles who have been hosting a mother and children from Vinnytsia in their home since the beginning of the war until now. Name day. Today our Brothers in the Province of Krakow celebrate their name day. We especially keep in prayer Br. Mark Miszczynski, our provincial minister. May God bless you. We thank you for your ministry.

The “scorched earth” syndrome continues by Russian terrorists. It makes no difference, a simple house, a skyscraper, a school, an Orthodox church—everything is ruined, that’s because it is on Ukrainian soil.
God, give us a just peace!

The Word… Practical advice from the Letter of St. Peter, the Apostle. “Most beloved: All of you, towards one another, clothe yourselves with humility, for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober! Be vigilant! Your adversary, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Strong in faith, oppose him.”
“We preach Christ crucified, who is the power and wisdom of God.”
I invite us to proclaim Christ together, as our life and vocation allows… Come, Holy Spirit.

The Word… We all want to be happy. The way to that happiness is one. Here it is: “Blessed are those who listen to the Lord.” That’s why Jesus gives us a warning: “Amen, amen, I say unto you, Ye seek Me, not because ye have seen signs, but because ye have eaten bread to the full. Contend not for that food which decays, but for that which endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you; for it is He whom God the Father has marked with His seal.”

Jesus the Nazarene, the Husband whose message God confirmed to you by the extraordinary deeds, miracles and signs which God performed through Him among you, as you yourselves know, this Husband, who by God’s will, decree and foreknowledge was delivered, you nailed by the hands of the wicked to the cross and killed. But God raised Him up, having broken the bonds of death, for it was impossible for it to reign over Him, …”
“This very Jesus was resurrected by God, and we are all witnesses to this.”
“Lord Jesus, give us to understand the Scriptures, let our hearts burn when you speak to us.”

Yaroslav, a 21-year-old boy hit a tree while sledding in mid-February. The impact was so unfortunate that he fell into a coma. We visited him on March 8. His mother said that doctors don’t give him much chance for a normal life. One in a hundred—such a diagnosis. And Mom praying, said one in a hundred is not one in a thousand. A few days after the sacrament of the sick was administered, Yaroslav returned to consciousness. Praise the Lord. Doctors said that rehabilitation will be long and it is not known whether he will speak again or not. Mom prayed and recently when we visited him in the hospital he even remembered how many rabbits he has at home and misses them very much. Jesus is our resurrection and life!!! (photo)

Last night’s explosions were about 50 km from Vinnytsia. The drone, unfortunately, hit critical infrastructure. Thank God there were no civilian casualties.

We, on the other hand, will devote ourselves exclusively to prayer and the ministry of the Word.”
Let us hold fast to this Word. Let us follow this Word. “For the word of the Lord is righteous, and every work of His is trustworthy. He loves law and justice; the earth is full of His grace.”

Peace and Good! I met a brother; his name is Justyn Rusin. I listened to his statements on onet and was delighted with my brother. A great Man, only such can become a saint.

Yesterday was a day of gratitude for volunteers. These are our angels, good people, who in various ways helped and are helping, us residents of Ukraine to survive this time of war. For every angel volunteer we know and don’t know, we offer praise and thanksgiving to God. We ask for eternal peace, for those who gave their lives helping others.

Night very restless. Alarms. Russian terrorism revived. 8 out of 12 kamikaze drones were destroyed. In the Vinnytsia region, drones hit objects of sensitive infrastructure. They do not report on civilian casualties.
God, give us a just peace !

The Word… And so it has been over two thousand years. “So also now I say to you: leave these people and let them go! For if from men comes this thought or matter, it will crumble, and if it really comes from God, you cannot destroy them, and may it not turn out that you are fighting against God.” They obeyed him. And so it has been over two thousand years. “And they departed from before the Sanhedrin and rejoiced that they had become worthy to suffer for the Name of Jesus. And they did not cease every day to teach in the temple and after the houses and to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

More shelling of Ukraine’s border territories by the Russian occupier. Sumy region, Chernihiv region, Kharkiv region, Zaporizhzhya region, Kherson region…
God, grant us peace!!!

The Word… It’s also a war where you can give your life for the truth or be killed for the sake of the truth. “One must listen to God more than to men,” replied Peter, as well as the apostles. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you lost by hanging on a tree. God exalted Him to a place at His right hand as Ruler and Savior to ensure Israel’s repentance and forgiveness of sins. We bear witness to this very thing, and to the Holy Spirit, which God has given to those who obey Him.” When they heard this, they became enraged and wanted to kill them.” And again: “The poor man cried out and the Lord heard him.”
According to the Spirit of the Word, it is possible to live in war and not live by war, and even to rule over war and… be killed in war and live… “He who comes from on high rules over all things, and he who comes from on earth belongs to the earth and speaks in earthly terms.”

The Word… Although we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, we see our poverty, the poverty of modern man: “The poor man cried out and the Lord heard him.” It is only because Jesus is Risen that we are strong and rich with the hope brought by the Risen Jesus. “My soul boasts in the Lord, Let the lowly hear it, and let them rejoice.”

Today, April 18, 2023, Brother Leonid Michalec, a native of Starokostiantyniv, now in Krasyliv, is celebrating his 25th anniversary of his ordination to the presbyterate.
Brother Lonia, thank God for your life and religious and priestly vocation. Многая літа!

The Word… Here is one of the fruits of the encounter with the Risen Jesus. “One spirit and one heart animated all who believed. None called his own what he possessed, but they had everything in common. The apostles testified with great power to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace rested on all of them. None of them suffered privation, for the owners of the fields or houses sold them and brought the money obtained from the sale, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. To each was also distributed according to need. And Joseph, called by the apostles Barnabas, that is, the Son of Consolation, a Levite native of Cyprus, sold the land which he owned, and brought the money and laid it at the apostles’ feet.”
“You must be born again,” he said.
“And as Moses exalted the serpent in the wilderness, so it is necessary that the Son of Man be exalted, so that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life.”
Come, Holy Spirit!

On this Easter night as a result of rocket fire, 4 people were killed among civilians, including siblings of minors.

Vinnytsia:
At the empty tomb, but for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament came two women. One of them younger standing on her knees cried very loudly. Coming out of prayer, the older woman approached me, asking me to pray for her seriously injured grandson. The crying woman turned out to be a mother whose son had been wounded at the front. Let us pray for the severely wounded and other wounded and killed soldiers and their families.

New rocket attacks on Slavyansk. Another rocket hit a residential house. 5 people were killed, 15 injured. The search for other people is underway.
